One of New Zealand’s most sought after hair stylists, director Sam Su’a returned to his home city of Whanganui in 2020 after nearly two decades away. His vision was for a salon where creatives can showcase their talents, and bounce ideas off each other. With a fresh and unpretentious approach to their craft, The Studio by Sam Su’a has raised the bar for styling in Whanganui.

Set in an airy, open plan loft of a heritage building, The Studio is a relaxing, light-filled oasis, an antidote to busy lives. Complimentary refreshments have been curated mindfully, and clients can choose from organic loose leaf tea, sustainable wines and fair-trade coffee. The Studio is available to host events, tastings, seminars and exhibitions.
The Studio stocks, and uses, industry-leading sustainable styling and colour products by Oway and O&M. With biodynamic, organic and ethical ingredients and packaging, our professional hair care ranges tread lightly on the planet. The Studio is also the region's only refillery for Oway products, and customers save 20% when refilling.

Visit us on level two, 98 Victoria Avenue, Whanganui - the National Bank of New Zealand building. The best parking is on Watt Street, where there is no time limit. There is a wheel chair ramp into the building at the Victoria Ave entrance, and a lift is available to travel between floors. Look for our sign by the main stairwell - we're next to Mothwerk.
